History Given at PTA Meeting By Mrs. W. H. Rogers, Who Enrolled
as First Grader at School's Second Term.
The Centennial school, located 3 1/2 miles east of Fair Acres, was
opened for class work 76 years ago this month and has been in
continuous operation since that time.
A history of the school was given at a meeting of the Parent Teacher
association Friday night at the school by Mrs. W. H. Rogers, who
received her elementary school work at Centennial. The school was
opened in 1876 and the following year Mrs. Rogers was enrolled as
a first grade pupil.
A reading was given by Mrs. M. C. Garner and the lesson topic,
"Parents Can Help Educate Children," was discussed by Mrs. John
Straine.
Paul Bottens, president, opend the business meeting session. Mrs.
Straine reported a total of $101 cleared at the school pie supper.
Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting.
