School House Burns at Forest Mills
Carthage, Mo., Feb. 22, The Joplin Globe, Feb. 23, 1921, page 5.

Magnet schoolhouse, near Forest Mills, was burned to the ground about 2 o'clock this morning.  The origin of the fire is unknown,
but it is believed to have started from a fire left in the stove Monday evening.  Bloodhounds were taken to the scene this morning
to see if they could pick up the trail of an incendiary but they failed to find one.
The schoolhouse was six and one-half miles east of Carthage and a half-mile south of the Chestnut road.  All school books, desks
and other contents of the building were destroyed.  Mrs. Mabel Swingle is teacher of this school.
