Carthage Attorney Richard Webster, candidate for the state senate, was the principal speaker Friday night,
May 18, at graduation exercises at the Pleasant Valley R-6 school west of Carthage. Webster stressed the
importance of acquiring a complete education to face the challenges of the years ahead and urged the eighth
grade graduates strive to develop their individual talents to the fullest. Diplomas were presented by Dean Rusk,
president of the R-6 board of education, following presentation of the class by Principal G. L. Hamor. Eighth
grade teachers are Mr. and Mrs. Hamor. The ceremony was held in the recently completed R-6 auditorium-
gymnasium before a large crowd of parents and friends.
