North Sycamore, 1910
Article from The Miller Press, April 29, 1976:
While visiting here last summer, Troy Holmes of San Jacinto, Calif., brought in the above picture of a
North Sycamore School group. North Sycamore School was located about four miles northeast of Miller.
Both it and the nearby church building are gone. Harley Baker, of Miller, the cotton top little fellow at the
left end of the front row in the picture, said the photo was made his first year of school, 1910-11 term.
Identification of the individuals was rather difficult because of alignment; therefore, the reader may
encounter problems in following across the rows. (Names after marriage or those deceased were not
listed).
In windows, left to right: Zula Hill, Earl Stockton, Carrie Hudspeth, Clarence Jones, Earl Marsh.
Standing at left is the teacher, Miss Alta Robison. The four rows start with the student at Miss Robison's
shoulder and move forward with Harley Baker as the first on the front row, all listed left to right.
Back row: Johnnie Merrick, Calvin Hudspeth, Clyde Holmes, Esther Ruark, Grace Baker, Zeda Jones,
Minnie Stockton, Ruby Hudspeth, Isaac Stockton, Sterling Fortner, Gail Ruark, Dallas Stockton.
