Carl Junction School Merger Carries
Voting 196 to 15, residents of the Carl Junction, Smithfield and Enterprise school
districts, approved the proposed consolidation of the districts. The consolidiation
was perfected by electing a board of directors. Under the consolidation plan, High
school pupils of the entire district will attend the Carl Junction high school. The
grade schools will be maintained as they are. There are 600 pupils in the consolidation
district, about 200 of these being High school students.
The directors elected are: Charles Roney and W. F. Jarrett, three years; John D. Rockner
and A. T. Fare, two years; W. H. Clark and B. A. Johnson, one year.

Voters approved a merger of the Brick and Carl Junction school districts in October 1951.
The new district would be named the R-1 District.
